Inclusive Design: Learning without Barriers

Inclusive design means applying UDL principles, creating accessible materials, and addressing diverse learner needs. My process reflects this through intentional learner choice, which supports autonomy and aligns with self‑determination theory to increase engagement and relevance. Accessibility is built into the structure through clear headings, predictable layouts, and direct links to criteria and examples, reducing cognitive load and minimizing technical barriers. I also incorporate disability‑specific practices—such as screen‑reader‑friendly formatting, alt‑text conventions, captioning, and avoiding color‑only distinctions—to ensure materials are usable for learners with visual, cognitive, or processing differences. By integrating these approaches, I center the learner and translate theory into equitable, accessible, and empowering design.
